Neil Burnside

Associate

 | Calgary

Neil Burnside is an associate in the Taxation Group at Cassels. Neil received his JD from the University of Calgary in 2021 with distinction and a common law in French certification. At school, he was a member of the Alberta Law Review editorial board and a case worker for Student Legal Assistance. He enjoyed almost all his courses, but he was particularly interested in administrative law and mooting.

Before law school, Neil graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked as a land development engineer in Calgary, obtaining his P. Eng. designation and co-founding a consulting firm.

Neil loves video and board games. His pandemic hobby was binge watching YouTube: he can finally produce some passable pasta, not kill a plant, and complete slightly faster Sudokus. He was pleased to welcome a second daughter in early July 2021 and prays for the day she can sleep through the night.
