Mike Tallim* is a partner in the Banking & Specialty Finance Group at Cassels. Mike’s practice encompasses a broad range of commercial finance transactions, with an emphasis on cross-border and multi-jurisdictional transaction structuring. In addition to his commercial finance expertise, Mike’s practice also focuses on ancillary commercial finance matters, including expertise in ISDA and derivative products, anti-money laundering regulation, banking regulation and consumer finance and leasing matters. This expertise allows Mike to bring multiple perspectives when structuring transactions, and Mike regularly advises on a broad range of transactions, including consumer and commercial automotive loans and leases, equipment and floor plan financing structures, non-automotive consumer lending and leasing, asset-based lending and fund financing. When working with non-Canadian finance clients, Mike has strong experience guiding them through Canadian AML compliance matters as well as ensuring documentation and practices are consistent with Canada’s various consumer protection regimes.
Mike is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section, and is the current Chair of it’s International Business Law Committee. For his work, Mike is recognized as a leader in his field by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory.
