  • Larry Weinberg organized and moderated the CFA Growth and Exit Strategies Conference, “Franchising Meets The Money,” on October 22, 2025, at the Toronto offices of Cassels.
  • Peter Snell spoke at the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising on the topic of “Pricing Power: Navigating Global Policies in International Franchising” on October 15 to 17, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. Nine additional members of the Cassels Franchise Law Group attended the Forum with Peter.
  • Sam Sokoloff spoke at the Canadian Franchise Association’s Franchise Canada Show in Toronto on October 26, 2025, on “The Legal Considerations for Buying a Franchise,” and spoke on a panel titled ” Ask the Experts – Franchising Power Panel,” along with a roundtable covering “Legal Considerations: Franchise 101.”
  • Sam Sokoloff hosted and presented a webinar for the Canadian Franchise Association on “How to Franchise Your Business” on October 29, 2025 and February 12, 2026.
  • Larry Weinberg and Peter Snell attended the International Bar Association’s International Franchising Committee Retreat from October 31 to November 2, 2025, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Larry spoke on “Franchising in North America” at the Retreat.
  • Peter Snell attended the International Bar Association’s Annual Convention in Toronto from November 2 to 6, 2025.  Peter chaired the International Franchising Committee roundtables.
  • Priya Gill and Danielle DiPardo hosted the Canadian Franchise Association’s first-ever Franchise Development Day on November 6, 2025, at the Vancouver offices of Cassels. Their session, “Franchise Sales Compliance: A Conversation, Not a Lecture,” explored practical strategies for maintaining compliance in franchise sales and marketing.
  • Priya Gill spoke at the Canadian Franchise Association’s Franchise Show in Vancouver on November 8 and 9, 2025, presenting sessions on “Essential Legal Considerations When Buying a Franchise” and “Franchise Disclosure Documents: Red Flags and Green Lights.”
  • Larry Weinberg attended the Restaurant Finance & Development Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 10 to 12, 2025.
  • Frank Robinson and Noah Leszcz attended the International Franchise Association (IFA) Emerging Franchise Conference in Nashville, Tennessee on November 10 to 12, 2025.
  • Noah Leszcz spoke on “Future Proofing in a Climate of Uncertainty” and Kate Byers spoke on “Managing Exiting Franchisees” at the Ontario Bar Association’s Franchise Law Conference on November 27, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario.
  • Sam Sokoloff attended the American Bar Association Forum on Franchising’s Mid-Winter Meeting in Tulum, Mexico as part of his role on the Forum’s Governing Committee.
  • Sarah Kemp provided a Case Law Update webinar for the Ontario Bar Association Franchise Section on January 21, 2026.

Noah Leszcz is on the Symposium Planning Committee and moderating a panel on “Next-Gen Franchise Investing: How Private Equity Is Reimagining Value in the Franchise Model.” Frank Robinson is speaking at the “International Franchising Basics Track.”
  • Cassels lawyers will be attending the 41st Annual International Bar Association/International Franchise Association Joint Conference on International Franchising in Washington, DC on May 19 and 20, 2026. Derek Ronde is speaking on a panel on “Dispute Resolution – How To Handle Pre-Dispute Negotiations.” Peter Snell will be hosting roundtables at the event.
  • Peter Snell is moderating a panel on “Business Logic: Operational Replication, Brand Consistency, and Heavy Local Investment” at the International Distribution Institute convention in Lisbon, Portugal, on June 5 and 6, 2026.
