Ali Zankar (he/him/his) is a member of the 2024-2025 Articling Student class at Cassels and previously summered with the firm. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Ottawa’s combined Bachelor of Commerce/Juris Doctor program.
During his studies at the Faculty of Law, Ali served as an intern for a major non-profit organization, supporting domestic and international operations on pressing commercial matters within their legal and risk management division. He also spent a summer working for a leading global consulting firm in their regulatory and risk management team, where he contributed to projects focused on improving compliance and regulatory frameworks.
At the Faculty of Law, Ali served as Senior Editor and Business Manager of the Ottawa Law Review. He was also a teaching assistant for the first-year dispute resolution course and a research assistant for the Centre for Law, Technology and Society. In his final year of study, Ali served as founding co-president of the University of Ottawa’s Middle Eastern and North African Law Students’ Association. In this role, he pioneered initiatives to foster diversity and inclusion within the legal community and organized seminars and networking events to promote a better understanding of Middle Eastern and North African perspectives.
In his spare time, you can find Ali improving his golf game or playing soccer with friends. He is also an avid chess player.
