Dakota Bundy

Dakota Bundy is an associate in the Intellectual Property and Regulatory Law Groups at Cassels. Her practice focuses on intellectual property, regulatory, and corporate and commercial matters. She assists clients with drafting and advice related to commercial agreements, licensing, corporate transactions, and regulatory compliance. She advises clients across many industries including entertainment, media, sports, charities and not-for-profits, cannabis, food, alcohol, healthcare, technology, and gaming. Dakota has completed the Osgoode Certificate in Intellectual Property (IP) Licensing.

Dakota received her J.D. from the Queen’s University Faculty of Law, where she was awarded the Dean’s Key Award for being one of two graduating students who best embodied the values of Queen’s Law. Prior to joining Cassels as an associate, Dakota was both a summer and articling student with the firm.

Soha Atiq

Soha Atiq (she/her/hers) is an associate in the Business Law Group at Cassels. Soha’s practice focuses on private mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, corporate reorganizations, and general corporate and commercial law. She received her JD from the Queen’s University Faculty of Law.

Prior to law school, Soha graduated from Toronto Metropolitan University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Certificates in Humanitarian Response and Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies from Harvard. At a young age, Soha developed a passion for policy and business and cofounded a successful exporting business with her father. After finding success in her business ventures, Soha began an upcycling charity in her hometown in Faisalabad, Pakistan where she continues to serve women in the area. She has also worked as a policy advisor both internationally and locally with the United Nations and the City of Toronto.

During her time at Queen’s Law, Soha acted as the Student Director for the Conflict Analytics Lab where she has collaborated with data and computer scientists to develop new legal technology using artificial intelligence. Soha has also managed a large Pro Bono Students Canada portfolio of over 15 projects and 100 students. Restructuring the entire chapter, she went on to develop the first project to address mental health challenges amongst women of colour.

Soha enjoys cooking, fitness, and travelling, particularly back to her ancestral land in South Asia. Prior to joining Cassels as an associate, Soha was an articling student with the firm.

Monica Pak

Monica Pak (she/her/hers) is the Associate General Counsel in the General Counsel’s Office at Cassels. In this role, Monica oversees all aspects of conflicts management and supports the identification, mitigation, and monitoring of enterprise risks across the firm. Monica’s practice includes advising on regulatory compliance and legal ethics issues, as well as assisting with professional development and training across the firm on these topics.

Zach Flemming-Giannotti

Zach Flemming-Giannotti is a partner in the Construction Law Group at Cassels. Zach represents a wide array of clients across the industry, including public and private owners, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and sureties, among others. He has provided strategic advice to clients on disputes arising out of major construction and infrastructure projects including light rail transit, highways, bridges, hospitals, and mines. Zach also routinely assists clients with respect to issues arising during the regular course of project delivery.

As an advocate, Zach regularly represents clients in arbitral and court proceedings, and has played key roles in complex, high-value construction and infrastructure disputes. He has argued matters before all levels of court in Ontario, and has made written submissions to the Supreme Court of Canada. While Zach is a powerful advocate in arbitral and court proceedings when required, he works diligently to resolve clients’ disputes efficiently and cost-effectively.

Prior to joining Cassels, Zach practiced at a leading construction law firm in Toronto.

Gray Potter

Gray Potter is a business law associate who assists clients with a broad range of corporate and commercial matters. His practice is concentrated within the Franchise Law Group, where he advises clients on compliance with Canadian franchise disclosure legislation. He also advises clients on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, and general corporate and commercial law matters.

Gray received his J.D. from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the UBC Sauder School of Business, where he specialized in finance. Before attending UBC, Gray played NCAA Division I golf at Binghamton University in New York, where he holds the program-record for lowest single-round score. Gray has also gained experience as an intern at a Canadian banking and financial services company and at several sports companies.

Before joining Cassels as an associate, Gray articled and summered with the firm.

Jennifer McKenzie

Jennifer McKenzie* (she/her/hers) is a partner in the Intellectual Property Group at Cassels and a Registered Canadian Trademark Agent. As a recognized leader in branding, regulatory, advertising, and marketing law, Jennifer advises both domestic and international clients on their portfolios. From the selection and clearance of trademarks to the legal review of advertising and claim substantiation, Jennifer provides advice in a wide range of industry sectors from prepackage consumer goods to regulated products such as cannabis, drugs, medical devices, cosmetics, food, and alcoholic beverages. Jennifer offers extensive experience in trademark prosecution and enforcement, and has represented clients in regulatory investigations, competitive trade disputes, and appeared before Ad Standards. She also advises clients on federal and provincial privacy legislation for the private sector, including Canada’s anti-spam law, and the drafting of consumer facing privacy policies and terms of use. In addition, Jennifer helps clients in relation to promotion and contest design and the drafting of commercial agreements including social influencer agreements and co-promotion agreements. For her work, Jennifer is recognized by such authorities as Chambers Canada, Lexpert, and Lexology Index. In 2022, Jennifer was named Toronto’s “Lawyer of the Year” for Advertising & Marketing by Best Lawyers.

Jennifer sits on the Influencer Marketing Steering Committee of Ad Standards, the Cannabis Working Group for the Canadian Marketing Association, and is the Vice-Chair of the Marketing Practices Committee of the Canadian Bar Association.

Jennifer is also a frequent speaker on marketing and advertising law and intellectual property and has written extensively in these areas. She has spoken for organizations such as the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO), and the Ontario Bar Association (OBA).

Prior to joining Cassels, Jennifer was a partner at a leading intellectual property firm, where she led the Regulatory, Advertising & Marketing Group and co-led the Cannabis and COVID-19 Groups.
