Sophie Beaton is an associate in the Business Law Group at Cassels and a member of our Intellectual Property team. She was previously a member of the 2021-2022 Articling Student class. Sophie is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. While in law school, Sophie completed the Rotman@Law certificate in finance, accounting and statistics. Additionally, Sophie undertook an externship at the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic in which she dedicated her time to helping women experiencing violence access legal resources. Sophie also worked as a Research Assistant to the University of Toronto’s Metcalf Chair in Environmental Law where she assisted in developing international legal theory.
Prior to law school, Sophie graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in International Development (Economic Stream) and minoring in Business. At McGill, she volunteered with organizations committed to supporting women such as McGill Women in Leadership and SynesthAsia. One of the highlights of Sophie’s time in undergrad was completing an exchange at University College London which allowed her to explore Europe.
In her spare time, Sophie enjoys running, cooking and traveling.
