On November 12, 2021, TPG Global, LLC, a US-based global real estate equity investment firm, acquired Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto (“Cinespace Toronto”) and Film Studios in Chicago (“Cinespace Chicago” and together with Cinespace Toronto, “Cinespace”). Cinespace specializes in the development, management and operation of studio space and support facilities for film, television and digital media production in Chicago and Toronto, and is the second largest independent sound stage platform in North America with best-in-class studio campuses.
Cinespace Toronto was founded by the Mirkopoulos family in Toronto in 1988 and currently operates 23 production stages across the city, with 12 stages planned for development. Cinespace Chicago opened in 2010 and currently operates 33 stages, with an additional 15 stages undergoing development.
