Kim Bonnar (she/her/hers) is the Chief Professional Resources Officer. In this role, Kim oversees the recruitment, development, and retention initiatives for associates and students across all three offices. Kim regularly coaches associates and students on performance, practice management, and professional development, while proactively identifying training and growth opportunities. She brings a strategic, practical and collaborative approach to building strong legal talent. Kim is passionate about promoting diversity, the advancement of women, and wellness in the legal field and is actively engaged in many related initiatives at Cassels.
Following her call to the bar in 2010, Kim practiced employment and labour law at an international law firm before returning to her alma mater, Osgoode Hall Law School, to take up the challenge of running the Career Development Office and establishing the first Experiential Education Office at a Canadian law school. She spent six years building a professional development program that has been emulated by many law schools across the country and internationally.
Kim has been actively involved with the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALP) for over a decade. She has served in a number of appointed and elected roles, recently as a member of the Advancement & Pipeline Development Work Group and the Nominating Committee. Kim has also completed the NALP Level 1 & 2 Coaching Programs.
