Emma Baliat

Emma Baliat (she/her/hers) is an associate in the Litigation Group at Cassels. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. Prior to joining Cassels as an associate, Emma was both a summer and articling student with the firm.

During her legal studies, Emma was actively involved in advocacy and student leadership. She competed in both the Hamish Stewart Cup and the Walsh Family Law Negotiation Competition, and served as an executive member of the Korean Law Students’ Association and the Peer Mentorship Program. Emma also volunteered with Downtown Legal Services and spent a semester abroad at Lund University in Sweden through the Faculty’s Exchange Program.

Prior to law school, Emma earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in French from McMaster University. She also gained valuable experience through multiple summer internships at a Canadian bank in Toronto.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys attending concerts, reviewing movies, and exploring Toronto’s café scene in search of the perfect matcha latte.
