Alex Iliopoulos is a partner in the Securities Group at Cassels. Alex has experience representing a broad range of issuers and investment dealers on a variety of transactions, including corporate finance transactions, mergers and acquisitions and metal streaming transactions. She regularly advises companies on general corporate and securities law matters including governance and compliance.

Alex’s representative work includes:

  • Real estate corporate finance transactions including the following transactions on behalf of Greybrook Realty Partners Inc.: (i) US$60 million financing of Greybrook Society Atlanta; (ii) US$45 million financing of Greybrook Society Denver; (iii) $38 million financing of Greybrook Yorkville III; (iv) US$32 million financing of Greybrook X Wynwood (Miami); (v) US$56 million financing of Greybrook Miami II; (vi) $40 million financing of Greybrook Fort Lauderdale; and (vii) $24 million financing of Greybrook King City.
  • Metal streaming transactions including the following transactions on behalf of Wheaton Precious Metals Corp.: (i) $1.9 billion gold stream transaction with Vale S.A.; (ii) $900 million gold and silver stream transaction with HudBay Minerals Inc.; (iii) $800 million gold stream transaction with Vale S.A.; and (iv) $900 million silver stream transaction with Glencore plc.
  • Debt and equity corporate finance transactions including acting on behalf of The University of Toronto in connection with a $200 million debenture offering; (ii) AGT Food and Ingredients Inc. in connection with a $200 million note offering; and (iii) Canaccord Genuity in connection with a $300 million initial public offering of Callidus Capital.
  • M&A transactions including acting on behalf of: (i) Lundin Mining Corporation in connection with its acquisition of Josemaria Resources Inc. for an implied equity value of $625 million; (ii) Allied Gold Corporation in connection with its US$267 million financing, business combination and going public transaction; (iii) Contrans Group Inc. in connection with its $495 million sale to TransForce Inc.; and (iv) Sprott Power Corp. in connection with its $33 million acquisition of Shear Wind Inc. and its $70 million sale to Capstone Infrastructure Corporation.

Alex has delivered a number of presentations on securities law matters and has written and published articles on metal streaming, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Alex has also been a guest lecturer at Osgoode Hall Law School – LL.M. Program (Securities). In addition to her legal practice, Alex previously served as a member of the Board Governors and Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee of Holy Trinity School.
