Janice Yuen, CCTA, a Toronto-based law clerk in our national Intellectual Property Group, has recently been certified by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) as a Certified Canadian Trademark Administrator.
A Certified Canadian Trademark Administrator (CCTA) demonstrates the competencies required to assist a trademark agent or lawyer practicing in the field of trademark law. Duties cover a wide range of tasks related to the administration of trademarks, including conducting trademark searches, preparing trademark applications, paying government fees, docketing deadlines, preparing correspondence with the Trademarks Office, drafting letters to clients, and assisting with the administration of contentious proceedings.
Janice offers extensive experience in the full cycle of trademark prosecution under the Trademarks Act and associated regulations, including matters before the Trademarks Opposition Board and expungement proceedings. Janice is also experienced in the copyright filings and is actively involved in the management of international trademark portfolios. Janice also assists in conducting preliminary trademark searches in Canada and the US. In addition, Janice brings experience as an IP litigation clerk in matters before the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal.
