Chandimal Nicholas has been quoted in the article “Why Psychedelics Are Not the New Cannabis,” published by Canadian Lawyer.
Writes Tim Wilbur: “While there are similarities, lawyers advising or working for companies developing psychedelic drugs say their therapeutic potential makes them very different than cannabis.”
Psilocybin and psilocin are regulated as controlled substances and although the restrictions and penalties imposed for improper use of psilocybin are less significant than with harder drugs, Chandimal cautions that they are still burdensome. In addition, Chandimal notes that Health Canada has taken notice that this is the next big industry and is taking stock of who has what licenses – and what people are doing.
