While there has been considerable discussion about the global rise in greenhouse gas emissions over the past five decades, efforts to develop an international framework to address this global crisis have failed to demonstrate real promise. The phased-in adoption of a comprehensive, proactive and transparent carbon mitigation plan by Canadian companies could represent the first of several steps in establishing Canada as a leader in the creation of a climate-smart economy.
