Simran Grewal

Simran Grewal (she/her/hers) is a member of the 2025 Summer Student Class at Cassels. She is completing her JD at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law.

Prior to law school, Simran graduated with Distinction from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Political Science. Simran was also extensively involved in her undergraduate community by volunteering with local organizations, such as the Learning Centre Literacy Association where she was a tutor. During her degree, Simran was also a Podcast Producer, and she developed episodes on Cuban history and perlustration in Soviet-Era Russia.

At Queen’s Law, Simran serves as Co-Editor in Chief of the Queen’s Law Journal. She has also acted as the President of the Queen’s Law First Generation Network and participated in the 2025 Davies Corporate/Securities Law Moot as an Oralist where her team won Second Place Factum.

Prior to joining Cassels, Simran summered at a full-service law firm in Calgary. In her spare time, she enjoys reading books, creative writing, and practicing her golf swing.

Neha Khoral

Neha Khoral (she/her/hers) is a member of the 2025 Summer Student class at Cassels. She is currently pursuing her JD from the Queen’s University Faculty of Law.

Neha graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English Literature. Prior to law school, she worked as a Promotions Coordinator at University of Toronto Press, consolidating marketing materials for Canadian academic literature in the social sciences.

At law school, she served as a Project Lead on the Artists’ Legal Rights project for the Queen’s Law chapter of Pro Bono Students Canada, supervising a team of first-year law students. The project focused on providing key information regarding copyright law to local artists in the Kingston and Napanee area in the form of a memo, brochure, and a presentation. Neha also worked as a Student Caseworker at the Queen’s Business Law Clinic, assisting clients with their small businesses. In her first year of law school, Neha was a Volunteer Editor at the Queen’s Law Journal and a volunteer at Queen’s Legal Aid.

In the summer of 2024, Neha participated in the Queen’s International Business Law Program through Bader college. She studied international economic and commercial law in Berlin for five weeks through the program.

In her spare time, Neha enjoys reading fantasy and fiction, baking, and concert-going.

Alicia Ying

Alicia Ying (she/her/hers) is a member of the 2025 Summer Student class at Cassels. She is currently pursuing her JD at Queen’s University Faculty of Law.

During law school, Alicia has been an active member of the student community. She worked as a student caseworker at Queen’s Legal Aid, where she received the Dan Soberman Award for demonstrated excellence in file management and dedication to supporting her peers. Alicia was also President of Queen’s Outlaw, volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, and held executive roles with the Queen’s Asian Law Students Association and Queen’s Women & Law.

Prior to law school, Alicia obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of British Columbia, graduating with distinction. In her second year, she spent a semester abroad at Lund University in Sweden. Alicia then worked as a Registry Clerk at the North Vancouver Provincial Court, where she primarily processed and filed Small Claims documents and assisted in court proceedings.

In her spare time, Alicia enjoys making music, solo travelling, and attending barre classes with her mom.

Saad Rajper

Saad Rajper (he/him/his) is an associate in the Litigation Group at Cassels. Saad graduated from Queen’s Law where he served as a peer tutor and helped administer the school’s tutoring program as a Tutoring Program Assistant. In addition, he was actively involved in mooting, having competed as an Oralist in the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot in his second year and in the Grand Moot in his third year. During his 1L summer, Saad completed the Public International Law program through the Bader International Study Centre and interned with the Canadian Bar Association in the International Initiatives Group. Saad has volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada working with the Kingston Youth Shelter to provide research on the barriers trans youth face in changing their name and gender on identification documents. Prior to joining Cassels as an associate, Saad was an articling student with the firm.

Prior to attending law school, Saad graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, swimming, and watching reality tv.

Erin Curtis

Erin Curtis (she/her/hers) is an associate in the Banking & Specialty Finance Group at Cassels. Erin is a Queen’s Law alumni. Prior to attending law school, she completed a Master of Science from The London School of Economics and Political Science in Political Media and Communications. At LSE, her dissertation was a thematic analysis of women in sports on social media. In 2023, she had the honour of being a presenter at the 16th annual Canadian Law Student Conference, presenting her paper, A Woman’s Choice to Embryo Freezing. She also has published an article, Votes for Women: An Indispensable Step Towards Equality, in the 16th volume of the Publication in the Journal of Parliamentary and Political Law.

Prior to joining Cassels as an associate, Erin was both a summer and articling student with the firm.

Lauren Gruenberger

Lauren Gruenberger is an associate in the Construction Group at Cassels. Lauren offers experience working on a wide range of disputes within her construction practice, including complex claims in relation to public infrastructure projects, traditional litigation and alternative forms of dispute resolution, and the preparation and negotiation of construction documents for clients across various sectors.

Prior to joining Cassels, Lauren served as an associate in the Construction Group at another national law firm.
