Cassels Successfully Represents Trans Mountain Corporation in TMEP Detailed Route Hearing with Redwoods Golf Course Before Canada Energy Regulator

12/01/2020

The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) is currently holding contested hearings for parties affected by the detailed route of the 1,147 km Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP), which is a proposed pipeline between Edmonton, Alberta and Burnaby, British Columbia. The project is valued at $12.6 billion. Cassels acts for Trans Mountain Corporation with respect to obtaining detailed route approval for the TMEP, including more than 20 detailed route hearings for landowners and municipalities before the CER. The team includes Jeremy Barretto, Viviana Berkman, Meghan Rourke, Tegan O’Brien and Aaron Cressman (Regulatory).

On December 1, 2020, the CER issued a decision approving the routing, method and timing of construction proposed by Trans Mountain Pipeline ULC in respect of the lands owned by Redwoods Golf Course Ltd. – a golf course operation in Langley. Cassels successfully represented Trans Mountain with a team consisting of Jeremy Barretto and Viviana Berkman (Regulatory), resulting in the approval of Trans Mountain’s proposed route and construction methods. As a result of this decision, the CER will approve the Plan, Profile and Book of Reference for this approximately 1.6 km section of the TMEP route.
