Sazia Aftab is a law clerk in the Intellectual Property Group at Cassels, focused on trademarks. With over a decade of experience, Sazia brings an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of trademark law to Cassels. In particular, for the intellectual property group, Sazia assists in full cycle trademark prosecution in Canada & the US, from the filing of applications to the registration stage. She also assists in opposition proceedings before the Opposition Board. In addition, she assists in post registration matters in both Canada and the US, including expungement proceedings and trademark maintenance. Sazia also assists in conducting preliminary trademark searches in Canada and the US. In addition, she collaborates with counsel in the US and in other jurisdictions on a regular basis to assist in the management of trademark portfolios for clients in Canada and abroad. She is certified by the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada as a Certified Canadian Trademark Administrator (CCTA).
Sazia earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
