Raysa Marcondes (she/her/hers) is an associate in the Intellectual Property and Regulatory Groups at Cassels. She advises clients on intellectual property, information technology and data privacy, regulatory, and commercial matters, with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, licensing arrangements, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Her intellectual property (IP) practice spans both copyright and trademarks and includes a broad range of transactional IP matters, including conducting diligence on large transactions and advising clients on IP strategy and commercialization. Raysa regularly drafts and negotiates commercial IP agreements across a variety of sectors, including iGaming, biotechnology, non-profits, technology companies, and start-ups, as well as clients in digital media and content-driven industries, including work on influencer and brand collaboration agreements. She supports clients in structuring and protecting their intellectual property assets in both day-to-day operations and complex transactions.
Raysa also advises on information technology (IT) and data privacy matters, including technology contracting for cloud-based and subscription software services and other commercial agreements, as well as cybersecurity protocols, privacy policies and strategy, and responses to information requests. She supports clients in corporate transactions by conducting IT and privacy diligence and routinely advises on artificial intelligence (AI) matters, including reviewing and negotiating AI licensing agreements.
In addition, Raysa provides regulatory advice on Canadian compliance frameworks relating to the sale and distribution of goods and services, as well as in professional services industries. Her experience spans a range of industries, including iGaming, alcohol, dairy licensing, and food and beverage regulation, as well as regulated professions such as pharmacy, health care services, and dentistry, where she assists clients in navigating applicable licensing regimes and ongoing compliance obligations.
Her practice often integrates multiple areas of her expertise and she regularly advises on complex, cross-disciplinary matters across a range of industries, particularly where intellectual property, technology, privacy, and regulatory considerations intersect.
Raysa graduated with both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration from Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business, respectively. During her studies, she founded and administered the Osgoode chapter of Artists’ Legal Advice Services, which provides pro bono legal advice to artists and creators in Ontario. She and her teammate in the negotiation won the 2023 Dentons Annual Negotiation Competition (Toronto) and went on to place third in the 2024 Canadian National Negotiation Competition.
Prior to law school, Raysa completed a Bachelor of Communication (Honours) at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta.
