Camille Dunbar (she/her/hers) is a litigation partner specializing in Employment & Labour law at Cassels. Camille has a broad practice advising employers in all aspects of the employment relationship, including employment standards, employment agreements and personnel policies for all levels of employees, and human rights and accessibility issues. She is also deeply experienced in labour law, providing practical and strategic advice on a wide range of matters including labour grievance arbitrations, collective agreement administration and collective bargaining.
Camille’s expertise on employment-related issues spans a variety of industries, including mining, logistics, healthcare, manufacturing, technology, and artificial intelligence, among others. She has significant experience in workplace investigations, having conducted investigations and compliance audits on behalf of school boards, non-profit organizations and large publicly traded companies. Camille is well versed in effectively tackling systemic discrimination and Anti-Black racism in workplaces, as well as managing and responding to sensitive workplace issues including harassment and other misconduct.
Camille takes pride in providing practical, cost-efficient advice, while being a dedicated advocate for her clients’ rights and interests throughout all stages of litigation. Camille is a skilled and astute negotiator, regularly representing employers in all levels of court in Ontario and appearing before various administrative tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and the Ministry of Labour, as well as at numerous mediations and arbitrations. She advises on employment litigation and wrongful dismissal actions, offering dedicated advice across a broad range of civil and insurance litigation matters, including defending professional negligence claims as well as regulatory and disciplinary proceedings. She also teaches the Lawyer as Negotiator course at Osgoode Hall Law School.
In addition to her practice, Camille is a frequent speaker and writer on employment law developments, regularly appearing on radio and media programs to discuss current issues in employment law. She has been a guest lecturer with a focus on occupational health, workplace safety and insurance, and serves as an Executive Member of the Ontario Bar Association’s Labour & Employment Group.
