Alec Hoy (he/him/his) is an associate in the Banking & Specialty Finance Group at Cassels and a member of our Restructuring & Insolvency team. Alec first joined the firm as a summer student in 2020 and was as a member of the 2021-2022 Articling Student class. Alec graduated from the J.D. program at Western University in 2021 and is the proud recipient of the Rhodes Western Law Award. At Western Alec was an active member of the student community, serving in roles as a student ambassador and mentor. Alec was also active in the advocacy competitions, acting both as a participant and judge.
Prior to attending law school, Alec graduated from the University of Windsor with an Honours Bachelor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, majoring in Political Science with a Law and Politics Specialization and minoring in Philosophy. During his time at Windsor, Alec co-authored a paper alongside one of his professors and worked for the Department of Athletics & Recreation. Prior to joining Cassels, Alec spent a summer working for a personal injury firm.
In his spare time, Alec enjoys exploring craft breweries and spent his final year in the law program at Western working for a local brewery. Alec also enjoys watching and playing sports and expanding his culinary skills.
