Writes Rochelle Raveendran: “Anjulie Persaud, who goes by the stage name Anjulie, released her original song Boom in 2009. A remix of the song went viral on TikTok two years ago, racking up millions of views. It did not credit Persaud.”
Stephen says that “[m]usic sampling can be considered copyright infringement,” but “[u]nfortunately, it does not dissuade a lot of people from doing it, because sometimes, it’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission.”
