Michelle McKinnon has been quoted in an article titled “Pay Transparency Act: Major Changes Coming into Effect in 2023,” published by HRD Canada.
The article provides some guidance regarding legislation recently introduced in British Columbia that legally binds employers to certain pay transparency guidelines.
Says Michelle: “The new Pay Transparency Act, which passed on May 11, 2023, places new requirements on employers to address discrimination in the workplace as it relates to pay.”
Certain changes take effect immediately, while others – including reporting measures – take place later in the year. Warns Michelle: “Pay discrepancies may expose an employer to a discrimination complaint under the BC Human Rights Code.”
