We are proud to see friend of the firm Chamath Palihapitiya named to the 2021 Maclean’s Power List, recognizing Canada’s 50 most influential people.
Chamath is recognized for the tremendous work done through his fund, Social Capital. The fund’s mission statement is “to advance humanity by solving the world’s hardest problems.”
Cassels partner Noble Chummar, who is close to the Silicon Valley venture capitalist, told Macleans Magazine that Chamath is currently “exploring major investments in two areas: climate change and post secondary education.”
Notes Macleans: Chamath has “achieved massive success by investing in people, companies and issues the market doesn’t typically care about. Expect him to keep doing so – whether his peers like it or not.”
