Cassels is pleased to announce that Cory Sherman has joined the firm in our Toronto office as part of the firm’s national Real Estate & Development Group, serving as co-lead of the commercial leasing team.
A recognized leader in his field, Cory brings with him significant experience in commercial lease negotiations. Cory represents many of North America’s largest national and international retail and restaurant chains and several of this country’s largest real estate developers and asset managers. He also acts for numerous independent developers who operate on a smaller scale.
Cory has lectured extensively at the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC), the Canadian Bar Association, and other professional bodies and conference organizations. Cory has twice chaired the ICSC Canadian Law Conference and frequently acts as a moderator and speaker at ICSC seminars.
Cory is considered by Lexpert to be one of Canada’s leading practitioners in property leasing and is consistently included in The Best Lawyers in Canada as one of the best solicitors for real estate and leasing.
Cory will be joined by partner Caterina White. Caterina’s breadth of experience in the commercial leasing sector allows her to assist clients in navigating commercial leasing transactions with a practical and business-conscious approach.
According to Jonathan Freeman, Chair of the Real Estate & Development Group at Cassels, “This is an exciting move for our firm and, most importantly, our clients who will benefit from Cory and Caterina’s expertise and network. They are outstanding practitioners who have enhanced our existing team, allowing us to offer the preeminent leasing practice in Canada.”
Cory added that he is “thrilled to be joining the first-rate Real Estate & Development Group at Cassels and looking forward to having the opportunity to provide a full range of legal services to our retail, restaurant, and developers for many years to come.”
