Cassels is proud to be part of an exciting initiative with other Canadian law firms in support of UofT’s ground breaking Black Future Lawyers Program (BFL).
UofT Law believes that legal education should be accessible to talented students from all segments of Canadian society. Their vision is a legal profession that truly represents the diversity of the communities that lawyers serve.
BFL was launched in support of that goal, and is a collaboration between UofT’s faculty of law, Black Law Students Association, and members of the Black alumni community – together with the broader legal profession.
With a mission to increase the number of Black students who attend law school and join the legal profession, BFL has set-out short-, medium-, and long-term objectives and Cassels is proud to be among the law firms supporting these goals through a long-term commitment to deliver operational funding.
Says UofT Faculty of Law Dean Jutta Brunnée, “the 10-year financial commitment from the partner firms provides the stability and security needed to allow the BFL to establish chapters at universities across the country and invest in the future of Canada’s next generation of Black lawyers.”
