At Cassels, we believe that it is through our combined efforts that we can truly make a difference. With this in mind, we are excited to announce that we are partnering with the award-winning Classroom Champions to help bring its innovative educational programming to schools in communities across Canada.
Classroom Champions is a non‑profit organization that has supported more than one million students since its inception. The program matches classrooms with Olympic, Paralympic, and professional athletes who serve as mentors throughout the school year. Through regular interactions with their athlete mentors, students learn important life skills including goal‑setting, resilience, leadership, and teamwork. Classroom Champions works to support students in developing perseverance, confidence, and the social‑emotional skills they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Cassels joins Classroom Champions as part of the Champions Circle and Energizing Communities Collective, a broader collaboration of corporate partners committed to strengthening communities through investment in youth education and well‑being.
“Supporting strong, inclusive communities is a key part of Cassels’ commitment to corporate social responsibility,” said Jay King, Partner, Cassels and a director of Classroom Champions. “We are proud to partner with Classroom Champions to help expand access to these impactful programs and to support youth as they build skills that will serve them throughout their lives.”
Classroom Champions’ programming also places a strong emphasis on equity and inclusion, prioritizing partnerships with Indigenous athletes, communities, and Knowledge Keepers to deliver a customized social‑emotional learning curriculum that reflects the needs and experiences of participating schools.
According to Classroom Champions’ ongoing research, educators report increased student engagement, improved academic performance, and better attendance among students participating in the program. Building healthy habits and social‑emotional skills at a young age can also contribute to improved leadership development and emotional well‑being over the long term.
