Shanice Prendergast

Assistant Director of Professional Resources – Student Programs

Shanice Prendergast (she/her/hers) is the Assistant Director of Professional Resources – Toronto Student Programs. In this role, Shanice leads the recruitment, training, coaching, and ongoing professional development of the summer and articling students in the Toronto office.

Prior to joining Cassels, Shanice worked as a Legal Recruiter and Manager of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) at a highly regarded legal recruitment and consulting firm. In this role, she collaborated with clients and stakeholders to effectively manage complex recruitment processes for a spectrum of legal roles, developed and implemented the firm’s EDI strategy, and led the firm’s EDI projects. Before that, Shanice practiced employment law at a leading employment boutique where she represented clients in employment and human rights matters. Shanice also conducted workplace investigations and audits while assisting clients with organizational training to address key workplace challenges.

Shanice believes that a diverse and inclusive work environment is essential for driving innovation and fostering excellence. Her commitment to these values has been evident in her dedication to promoting equitable and inclusive hiring practices and supporting the integration and advancement of diverse candidates. Additionally, Shanice’s passion for talent management encompasses developing and mentoring young lawyers. Serving in numerous mentorship capacities over the years, Shanice has been committed to actively guiding and supporting aspiring legal professionals through their academic and professional journey.
