Robyn Cumiskey (she/her/hers) is a member of the 2025 Summer Student class at Cassels. She is pursuing her JD at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.
Prior to law school, Robyn graduated from Brock University where she earned her MA and BA (Hons.) in Canadian Political Science, with a minor in Sociology and a concentration in Public Law.
During her undergraduate degree, Robyn worked as a research assistant studying barriers to immigrant integration in American Rust belt cities in as well as her hometown of Niagara on the Lake. This research enabled her to co-author a paper on the topic which was recently published in the Journal of Urban Affairs. Robyn furthered her love for research and learning by authoring her MA thesis entitled “Analyzing Provincial Responses to COVID-19: A Theoretical Rights Review.” Robyn was also awarded the Bluma Appel Social Science Scholarship, Purple Chair Award, and David Murray Scholarship in Political Science for her contributions to the department and academic standing.
While at law school, Robyn has continued to pursue her love for research and learning through her work as an Associate Editor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law’s Journal of Law and Equality. Robyn has also acted as a 1L and 2L representative on the University of Toronto’s Student Law Society and will be the incoming Vice President of the Social and Finance Committee in her final year. She also worked as a Research Assistant and Academic Ambassador at the faculty. She is an active member of several student groups, including the Women in Law Society and Business Law group, and enjoyed her Securities Regulations and Business Organizations courses this past semester. Robyn also completed the Rotman@Law Certificate in Business Foundations this year and looks forward to gaining experience in business law throughout the summer.
In her spare time, Robyn enjoys baking, Pilates, and spending as much time outside as possible.
