Kanika Vashist (she/her/hers) is a member of the 2025-2026 Articling Student class at Cassels.
She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law, alongside a certificate in Business from the Rotman School of Management. She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with distinction, from the University of Alberta, with a major in Human Resource Management and a minor in Business Economics and Law.
During law school, Kanika held several leadership roles, including serving as Co-President of the South Asian Law Students Association and actively contributing to the Business Law Society. She was also actively involved with Women & the Law and has a longstanding commitment to women’s empowerment, having organized multiple women-focused conferences during her undergraduate studies.
Kanika is also passionate about giving back to the community. She has volunteered with legal clinics through Pro Bono Students Canada and Justice for Children and Youth. She also led various student workshops with Law in Action Within Schools.
Her professional experience is diverse, spanning retail banking, customer service, recruitment, and in-house legal work with an investment management firm.
Outside of work, Kanika enjoys discovering new cafés, attending Pilates classes, and spending time with family and friends.
