Julie-Anne Pariseau serves as counsel in the Aboriginal Law Group at Cassels. Julie-Anne maintains a broad Aboriginal law practice, advising clients across Canada on matters pertaining to Aboriginal rights, Indigenous-Crown relations, and project-related environmental and regulatory issues.
Julie-Anne has a combined 15+ years experience in-house with a Quebec Crown corporation, renewable energy private producer, and in private practice – providing strategic legal advice to clients in negotiating Impact and Benefit Agreements and effectively handling the transactional aspects of partnerships created with Indigenous communities in renewable energy, electricity, and mining. Julie-Anne also offers experience regarding consultation and accommodation and the participation of Indigenous communities in energy and natural resource projects.
A seasoned negotiator and strategist in obtaining important permits for large-scale project development in a rapidly changing geopolitical context, Julie-Anne accompanies her clients through various regulatory contexts and helps them navigate the context of reconciliation with Indigenous communities to successfully develop any type of large-scale project.
Julie-Anne has developed an in-depth understanding of environmental law across Canada, including environmental authorizations, compliance matters, as well as on environmental and regulatory obligations in connection with major projects that impact natural resources.
In energy law, Julie-Anne is experienced in regulatory and commercial issues, and has developed in-depth expertise related to energy projects and, more specifically, renewable energy projects developed in collaboration with Indigenous groups.
