Hashim Ghazi is a partner in the Information Technology & Data Privacy Group at Cassels. As a technology and data privacy lawyer, Hashim’s practice focuses on technology and commercial contracting matters, including those relating to the development, provision and implementation of new and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and automation and robotics; data privacy, protection, security, and governance; intellectual property strategy, protection, and enforcement; and legal considerations specific to high growth and emerging companies, including advising on corporate governance, financing, scale-up, growth, and exit strategies.
For his work, Hashim has been recognized as a leader in his field by Best Lawyers in Canada and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for Canada (CIPP/C).
Hashim is an avid supporter of the Toronto and Canadian technology ecosystem, spending his time working closely with founders, investors, and creators to provide mentoring and advisory services. He previously served as Chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Information Technology and Intellectual Property Section Executive.
Prior to joining Cassels, Hashim served as counsel at another national law firm; operated as a sole practitioner advising start-ups and entrepreneurial clients in technology, intellectual property, corporate, and media law; and worked at a reputable IP/IT boutique firm.
