Gemma Walsh

Gemma Walsh is an associate in the Employment & Labour Group at Cassels. She provides practical and strategic advice on all aspects of employment relationships, including performance, accommodation, investigations, privacy, health & safety, and employment standards.

Gemma graduated from the JD program at the University of Victoria. During her time at UVic, Gemma worked as a research assistant for multiple professors across a variety of areas and had the opportunity to write the first draft of a book chapter on Women’s Health and Canadian Law. As a mentor to new students and a peer tutor, Gemma actively supported UVic students, and helped many students develop the skills and knowledge to go from a failing grade to high final marks. Gemma also served as a member of the Law Student Society at UVic, acting as a social coordinator during the virtual school year. In this role, Gemma planned activities that helped student feel connected to their classmates and school, while being physically apart. During the summer after 1L, Gemma worked as a policy analyst with the Ministry of Forest, Land, and Natural Resource Operations where she gained experience analyzing Canadian and international legislation.

Prior to joining Cassels, Gemma completed her articles at another national firm.
