Corina Shachar is an associate in the Banking & Specialty Finance Group at Cassels. Corina’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, representing both lenders and borrowers involved in domestic and cross-border financing transactions and corporate finance matters. Corina’s experience includes both secured and unsecured lending transactions, asset-based financings, acquisition financings, and project financings.

Examples of Corina’s most recent work include acting for:

  • A Canadian Chartered Bank in connection with a $84.5 million syndicated financing in favour of a leading hotel owner and operator company
  • A Canadian Chartered Bank in connection with a $377 million syndicated financing in favour of a leading long-term care and retirement housing company
  • A Canadian Chartered Bank in connection with a $440 million syndicated financing in favour of a leading student housing company
  • University of Toronto in connection with Project Leap, a public-private project, which represents the largest sustainability effort in the higher education sector to date, with a $138 million infrastructure project financing that estimates to cut emissions in half at the St. George campus

Corina graduated from the J.D. program at Queen’s University. Prior to law school, Corina graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Media, Information, and Technoculture from Western University, and went on to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College. She worked in the Public Relations industry in various capacities, including reputation and crisis management and media relations.
