Ali Marshall is a member of the 2026-2027 Articling Student class at Cassels, where she also spent her 2L summer. Ali recently earned her JD from Western Law, and spent a semester on exchange at EBS University of Business and Law in Germany. She also received Western’s German Exchange Travelling Fellowship, and was awarded the Global and Intercultural Engagement Honour for her participation in international academic and extracurricular activities during her time at Western.

Throughout law school, Ali was actively involved in extracurriculars. She participated in the Dispute Resolution Clinic’s intern training program, and was a case manager with the Sport Solution Clinic. She was the co-chair of Western’s Diversity Committee, and Western’s chapter of OutLAWS. Ali participated in several moots, including the Julius Alexander Isaac Moot, where she was very proud to be runner up, and receive the award for best factum. During her 1L summer, Ali worked at Women’s Initiative for Gender Justice in The Hague, an international feminist organisation working with the International Criminal Court to advocate for victims of gender-based harm. This opportunity allowed her to live and work in the Netherlands for several months, where she learned to surf and took every chance to explore the country.

Ali received her bachelor’s from the University of Guelph, where she majored in Criminal Justice and Public Policy, and minored in Psychology. Prior to law school, she worked for the Ministry of the Attorney General, as a court clerk and later in the office of the Crown Attorney. In her spare time, Ali is an avid swimmer, reader, and traveller.
