Partner Tom Isaac has been quoted in the article “Why Didn’t Ottawa Oppose Challenges of the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion in Court?” published by the National Post. The article looks at Ottawa’s decision not to oppose the challenges from Indigenous groups at this stage of the Trans Mountain pipeline.
Writes Maura Forrest: “Perhaps the most surprising part of this week’s court ruling allowing six challenges of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion to proceed was a section near the end of the decision that said the government had taken no position on the matter.”
Tom believes that if the decision not to oppose the leave applications was intended to advance reconciliation, this wasn’t the right way to do it. “We have to be willing to engage in respectful dialogue.”
