Chris Horkins Appointed to the Executive of The Advocates’ Society’s Young Advocates Standing Committee

03/23/2018

Cassels Brock is pleased to announce that Chris Horkins, associate in our Advocacy Group, has been appointed as Secretary of The Advocates’ Society’s Young Advocates Standing Committee (YASC) for the upcoming 2018-2019 term. Chris will serve a three year appointment to the YASC executive, serving as Vice Chair in 2019-2020 and Chair in 2020-2021.

Founded in 1963, The Advocates’ Society is Canada’s premier national organization for the litigation bar providing first class professional development programs and resources, community and networking events. The Society is also regularly involved in issue advocacy through submissions to governments and regulatory organizations and interventions in important cases. YASC is the young lawyers’ division of The Advocates’ Society, aimed at promoting the interests of advocacy lawyers in their first ten years of practice. Chris has been involved as a committee member with YASC since 2013, during which time he has helped organize networking events, charitable and pro bono initiatives, and assisted with TAS’ submissions and interventions on various issues and court cases.

Chris’ appointment continues a strong tradition of Cassels Brock’s involvement in The Advocates’ Society. Peter Henein previously served as Chair of YASC and editor of the Advocacy Matters newsletter and Wendy Berman currently sits on the Advocates’ Society’s Board of Directors.
