Cassels Welcomes Michael Osborne

Cassels is pleased to announce the arrival of W. Michael G. Osborne as a partner in the firm’s Advocacy and Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment Groups, based in our Toronto office.

Michael Osborne advises and defends clients in inquiries and proceedings commenced by the Competition Bureau, including criminal matters, abuse of dominance, and marketing and advertising matters. Michael also defends clients in private proceedings under the Competition Act, including price fixing class actions.

In addition to his competition law practice, Michael acts for and advises parties in a wide range of commercial disputes, including contractual disputes, shareholders’ disputes, commercial fraud, and employment matters and also offers experience in a range of regulatory and white collar crime matters.

A recognized leader by such authorities as Chambers Global, Chambers Canada and The Best Lawyers in Canada, Michael has acted as trial and appellate counsel before all levels of court across the country, administrative tribunals, including the Competition Tribunal, and domestic and international arbitral tribunals.

Michael is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of ICDR Canada’s roster of arbitrators and serves as an editor of the Canadian Competition Law Review.
