Cassels Welcomes Davit Akman as Competition & Foreign Investment Group Chair

Cassels is pleased to announce the arrival of Davit Akman as a partner in its Toronto office and as Chair of the firm’s national Competition & Foreign Investment Group.

Davit advises market-leading domestic and international firms on all aspects of Canadian competition and foreign investment review law, including mergers & acquisitions, cartels and other criminal matters, private actions (including class actions), advertising and marketing practices, abuse of dominance and other reviewable trade practices.

Davit is viewed as a thought leader in the competition bar. He has written and spoken extensively on a wide-array of topics related to competition, including on issues at the intersection of privacy and competition law and IP and competition law. Davit currently serves as the Chair of the Antitrust Law Committee of the ABA Business Law Section and is a former chair of the Criminal Matters and Legislation & Competition Policy Committees of the CBA National Competition Law Section. He has been repeatedly recognized for his client service and ranked in leading legal directories such as Chambers Global and Who’s Who Legal, among others.
