Arend Hoekstra has been quoted in the article titled “Indigenous Law Forces Lawyers to Consider New Standards of Legitimacy,” published by Canadian Lawyer.
The article looks at a new joint degree program in Indigenous law launched by the University of Victoria that will help future lawyers address vital questions. The program studies both Canadian common law and Indigenous legal orders.
Says Arend: “The law is still trying to figure out what is workable, what is reasonable. At what point does it make sense for the government to step in and consult?”
