Areas of Expertise
Robyn Blumberg* is a partner in the Construction and Infrastructure Law Groups at Cassels and the firm’s Client Relations Leader. She advises construction industry clients on complex disputes and project-related issues.
Legal Practice
Robyn advises clients across the construction industry on civil litigation and dispute resolution matters. She works with owners, contractors, and subcontractors on commercial, institutional, and residential construction issues, including bidding and tendering, deficiencies, delay, termination, construction liens, breach of contract, and breach of trust.
Clients rely on Robyn through all stages of construction disputes, from contract review and interpretation to litigation and adjudication proceedings. She has regularly appeared on construction lien and other matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, and guides clients through construction adjudications commenced as part of the Ontario Dispute Adjudication for Construction Contracts (ODACC) process.
Her experience includes:
- preparing materials and assisting clients with a wide range of applications and motions in commercial and construction litigation and ODACC adjudication disputes;
- drafting and reviewing construction contracts prior to the commencement of a project;
- supporting clients with contract interpretation once a dispute arises; and
- assisting clients with municipal and architectural licensing inquiries.
Client Relations Leader
In addition to her legal practice, Robyn serves as the firm’s Client Relations Leader, working closely with legal and business professionals to align the firm’s services with evolving client expectations and business priorities.
She leads the Client Listening Program – an initiative designed to gather feedback, identify opportunities for improvement, and translate client insights into meaningful initiatives across the firm. Robyn also provides guidance to industry groups, bringing forward market intelligence that informs strategic planning and supports a more responsive approach to service delivery.
Career and Academic Background
Before joining Cassels as an associate, Robyn was both a summer and articling student with the firm. Robyn earned her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she received the Ronald J. Rolls ’58 Q.C. Prize for the highest standing in Civil Procedure and helped coordinate the 34th Annual Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop. During her studies, she served as a research assistant – examining factors that contribute to persuasiveness in trial advocacy – and studied abroad at the University of Hong Kong.
