On May 22, 2025, Darrell Podowski took part in a panel titled “Analysis of Legal Risk in Mining” as part of the IV Congreso Internacional de Derecho para la Minería organized by the Instituto Argentino de Derecho Para La Mineria (IADEM).
The conference was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the presentation was held virtually to a live audience of over 250 people.
The presentation covered such topics as risks facing foreign investment in Latin America, ways to improve the permitting and Indigenous consultation processes in Latin America using models applied in Canada and the US, and thoughts on the new Large Investment Regime (known as RIGI) recently adopted in 2024 in Argentina designed to reduce legal and regulatory risk.
