Cassels Successfully Represents Trans Mountain Corporation with Respect to KGHM Ajax Mining Inc. Detailed Route Hearings Before the Canada Energy Regulator

04/06/2020

The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) is currently holding contested hearings for landowners affected by the detailed route of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP), a project valued at $12.6 billion. Cassels acts for Trans Mountain Corporation with respect to obtaining detailed route approval for the TMEP, including more than 20 detailed route hearings for landowners and municipalities before the CER. The team includes Jeremy Barretto, Viviana Berkman, Robert Hamilton and Meghan Rourke.

On April 6, 2020, the CER issued a decision approving the routing, method and timing of construction proposed by Trans Mountain Pipeline ULC in respect of the lands owned by Sugarloaf Ranches Ltd. and KGHM Ajax Mining Inc. (Hearings MH-002-2020 and MH-003-2020). Cassels successfully represented Trans Mountain and, as a result of this decision, the CER will approve more than 11 km of the TMEP route.
