Cassels Acts for the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure in Procurement for Hybrid Electric-Diesel Ferry

On November 3, 2019, the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (the “Ministry”) named three proponents as qualified bidders to design and build a 60-vehicle ferry for the Kootenay Lake ferry route in British Columbia (the “Vessel”) pursuant to a competitive selection process. The Vessel is to be powered by a hybrid diesel-electric engine that is to be fully convertible to electric by 2030 as part of CleanBC’s plans to electrify the British Columbia inland ferry fleet by 2040.

Cassels is acting for the Ministry in connection with the competitive selection process (including the request for qualifications and request for proposals phase) with a team comprised of Deepak Gill and Jonathan Chandler (Business).
