Shannon Leo

Director of Professional Resources | 

Shannon Leo is the Director of Professional Resources at Cassels. In this role, Shannon oversees the recruitment, development, and retention initiatives for associates and students across all three offices. Shannon regularly coaches associates and students on performance, practice management, and professional development, while proactively identifying training and growth opportunities. She brings a practical, empathetic, and business-minded approach to her work. In addition to her law degree, Shannon completed her master’s degree in counselling psychology at the University of Toronto and has also completed professional coach training through the Co-active Training Institute. She recently obtained the “Leading with Finance” certificate from Harvard Business School.

Since being called to the bar in 2004, Shannon has spent the majority of her career assisting lawyers and law students with their professional and career development. Before joining Cassels in 2015, she managed the student program for another large law firm for five years and was the Director of Career Services at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law from 2006 to 2010.

In addition to her work leading the Professional Resources team, Shannon is a member of both the firm’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee and the Women’s Professional Development Committee. She has been involved with the National Association of Legal Professionals (NALP) since 2005 and is a past chair for the Canadian Section’s On-Campus Interview Advisory Group. She is a regular speaker at NALP events and law schools across the country.
