Sebastian Beck-Watt (he/him/his) is an associate in the Intellectual Property Group at Cassels. He is also a Registered Trademark Agent. Sebastian advises on the acquisition, protection, enforcement, and commercialization of intellectual property in a variety of sectors. Sebastian’s practice involves both litigation and solicitor work and he has experience in a range of intellectual property and related areas, including trademarks, copyright, marketing and advertising, licensing, and domain name matters.

Sebastian graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School. During law school, he interned at a major Canadian news and media organization, was an active member of IP Osgoode – Osgoode Hall’s Intellectual Property Law & Technology Program, and worked as a research assistant for leading intellectual property professors. He previously received an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Ottawa and worked in the financial services industry for several years.

Prior to joining Cassels, Sebastian was an associate at boutique intellectual property law firm in Toronto. He also clerked for a judge at the Federal Court of Canada and articled at a national intellectual property law firm in Ottawa.

Outside of work, Sebastian enjoys cooking and baking, is an avid runner, and is taking up pottery.
