Paras Patel is an associate in the Banking & Specialty Finance Group at Cassels. Paras’ practice focuses in corporate finance matters and corporate transactions. Prior to joining Cassels as an associate, Paras was both a summer and articling student at the firm. During law school, he volunteered with the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted, a non-profit organization that works to remedy injustices in the legal system through education and advocacy. Paras gained valuable business insight through a secondment with Coca-Cola.
Paras graduated from the J.D./M.B.A program at the University of Toronto. While there, he received the Gerald W. Schwartz Silver Medal for attaining the second-highest cumulative average in the program. Paras volunteered with the LAWS program that brings law students together with high school students to run educational seminars and mentorship programs. Before joining Cassels, Paras interned with the commercial real estate law department at Loblaw.
Prior to law school, Paras graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Integrated Science from McMaster University. During his time at McMaster, he earned numerous scholarships for academic excellence, including an NSERC-USRA award to conduct a summer research project in physiology.
