Monica Poremba (she/her/hers) is an associate in the Municipal, Environmental & Planning Group at Cassels. Monica’s practice involves all aspects of land use planning and development approvals law as well as a broad range of municipal law issues.

Monica assists developers and other private sector clients, municipalities, rate payer’s groups and non-profit organizations in navigating land use planning and governmental approval processes, and by providing advice on a broad range of land use approvals-related matters including:

  • Official plan, zoning, site plan, variances and consents (severances);
  • Appeals before the Ontario Land Tribunal and Toronto Local Appeal Board;
  • Environmental matters related to the land use approval process;
  • Aggregate resource matters; and
  • Access to information.

Monica has appeared before the Ontario Land Tribunal (formerly the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal), the Toronto Local Appeal Board, the Divisional Court, and the Environmental Review Tribunal.

Prior to joining Cassels, Monica was an associate at a boutique municipal, planning and development law firm in Toronto.
