Mary Lay (she/her/hers) is an associate in the Business Law Group and a member of the Real Estate & Development team. With over ten years of legal experience across a range of industries and jurisdictions, Mary brings a broad depth of knowledge and experience to her practice. She has a collaborative approach with both colleagues and clients to increase legal efficiencies and maximize productivity. Mary offers particular insight, having practiced as in-house counsel to a multi-national energy company and for Alberta’s largest municipality, providing advice on infrastructure projects, land, and resource development. Her experience enables Mary to work across a broad spectrum of practice areas, including land, real estate, corporate, commercial, regulatory, and environmental.

In addition to her in-house expertise, Mary served as an associate at a West Coast-based law firm prior to joining Cassels.
