Katie-May O’Donnell is an associate in the Banking & Specialty Finance and Insurance & Reinsurance Groups at Cassels. Her practice focuses on corporate & commercial law with an emphasis on corporate and regulatory matters in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Cassels, Katie-May worked for the corporate legal department at Zurich Insurance Company (Canadian Branch), assisting the General Counsel and Senior Assistant General Counsel in providing legal advice and support to various functions across the company. During her time at Zurich, Katie-May was involved in reviewing corporate governance, insurance and other regulatory matters, intellectual property matters, insurance policy documentation and the drafting of various commercial contracts.
Katie-May, originally from Ireland, graduated from the LL.B. program at Trinity College Dublin. At law school, she served as moot convenor organising events and was an active member of the Free Legal Aid Society. As part of her degree, she spent a full year on exchange at Osgoode Hall Law School. Following her LL.B. at Trinity College, she attended the University of Toronto and completed her LL.M. While at the University of Toronto, Katie-May volunteered throughout the year at Lawyers Feed the Hungry which provides meals to members of the community in need.
