Alexander (Alex) De Pompa (he/him/his) is an associate in the Business Law Group at Cassels. His practice involves both solicitor and litigation work in the areas of intellectual property and entertainment. He works with clients across a range of industries, including music, film, television, broadcasting, publishing, video games, visual arts, fashion, theatre, advertising, and social media. He also has experience with corporate transactions involving both public and private companies. Prior to joining Cassels as an associate, Alex was both a summer and articling student with the firm.

Alex completed his J.D. at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he received the Gerald Flaherty Prize in Entertainment and Communications Law. He also spent a semester on exchange at the University of Geneva, where he obtained a Certificate in Transnational Law. Prior to law school, Alex obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with a Specialist in English from the University of Toronto and received the Reginald Heber Manning Jolliffe Gold Medal for achieving the highest standing in English.

Outside of the office, Alex is an avid long-distance runner. He is also the co-founder and former Chief Operating Officer of Augur Magazine Literary Society, a not-for-profit literary arts organization funded by the Canada, Ontario, and Toronto Arts Councils. He has been nominated for the Aurora Award, Canada’s top literary award for fantasy and science fiction, two times for his editorial work on Augur Magazine, a literary magazine dedicated to publishing diverse Canadian and Indigenous writers.
