Stephanie Garraway (she/her/hers) is an associate in the Construction & Infrastructure Groups. Stephanie’s practice involves advising clients on all aspects and stages of infrastructure development and construction projects, with a specific focus on the review, preparation and negotiation of “front end” documents.

While navigating and mitigating the risks on projects of any size and complexity, Stephanie is acutely aware of each clients’ specific goals and strives to achieve the best, practical and most efficient result.

As a trusted advisor to owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers involved in local and international projects, Stephanie has extensive experience with various modes of project delivery, procurement, and all forms of standard and bespoke contracts including: stipulated price, guaranteed maximum price, cost-plus, construction management, design-build, design assist, integrated project delivery (IPD), engineering agreements, front end engineering and design (FEED), procurement and construction (EPC and EPCM), consultant services, architect agreements, trade contracts, subcontracts, supply agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, and master services agreements.

Stephanie also acts as an advocate for clients. From complex design and construction requirements to procurement, scheduling, scope changes, and project performance, Stephanie provides proactive and workable solutions to maintain project continuity or resolve matters effectually by way of settlement, litigation, or alternative dispute resolution.

Recent representative work includes:

  • Advising on all aspects of procurement, engineering and design, construction, and operation of various mining projects across Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Africa
  • Acting for municipalities, boards of education, post-secondary institutions, major financial institutions, developers, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers to update and prepare contracts and procurement documents to address recent updates to the Construction Act and the impact of COVID-19
  • Advising on project delivery and the construction of a new luxury hotel in St. Maarten
  • Advising on and preparing a bespoke suite of agreements for the design and construction of office and restaurant space for US and international brands and companies expanding into the Canadian market

Stephanie is an active member of the community. During law school, she collaborated with Osgoode’s International Legal Partnership to conduct remote research for the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative in Uganda. She continues to engage in local and national charitable events by volunteering in various mental health initiatives and as a sitting University Councillor at her alma mater, Queen’s University.
